Daughter: Hi, Mum!
Dad: Uh, hi love, it’s Dad, it’s your Dad.
Daughter: Oh cr… crazy! Oh, hi Dad! How’s everything?
Dad: Great, great. Great. Sooo… you know you said “did I ever write a song for you”, well I sort of did…
Daughter: You did? Cool! What… err, what’s it called?
Dad: It’s, well, it’s… it’s this attached one.
Daughter: Oh, wild. Let me have … uhh… Jesus, Dad, what the fuck? This is called “Stupid Irritating Child”!
Dad: Yeah, but…
Daughter: “Stupid Irritating Child”! Nice. Oh yeah, I wrote a song about you actually; it’s called “stupid fat ugly balding old cheesy-smelling wanker”.
Dad: It’s not…
Daughter: …and I hope you like it!
Dad: It’s not, like, calling YOU a stupid irritating child…
Daughter: Oh, really? Of course not. Ex-cuuuuse ME!
Dad: Well, have a listen. It’s kind of the idea that everyone’s a stupid irritating child.
Daughter: OK I will bear that in mind, when I proudly tell my friends that Dad’s written a song about me. And when they eventually stop laughing.
Dad: Can’t say fairer than that.

Oh Heaven
Cast
Cast – Vocals: Martin Radford
Drums: Steve Turner
Backing Vocals: Janice Anderson
Guitars, keyboards and Backing vox: Pete Griffin
The genesis was the concept of writing a song with a continuous flow of rapid-fire lyrics, so I’m glad I ditched that idea. Thanks for nothing, brain. I suppose the subject is the passage of time, and it’s prob’ly a love song to boot.
The wonderful soulful vocal is courtesy of Martin Radford, who appears elsewhere. The drums are by the brilliant Steve “Mouse” Turner – and I’ll tell you the whole history about us two anon. Tech nerds may like to know that the guitar intro part uses one patch – no other instruments.
Heavenly backing vocals are by Janice Anderson. Here’s how old I am: I invited Janice round to do the backing vocals, only to find that when I loaded up the track, she had already recorded them.
Bet that never happens to Trevor Horn. He probably has a PA to take notes. So I immediately pretended I knew that, and quickly got her to sing on something else. LOL, as they say.

Oh Heaven Lyrics
Lyrics are the words that make up a song, typically organized into verses and choruses, and sometimes written by a dedicated lyricist. They serve as the semantic, storytelling component of music, expressing personal thoughts, emotions, or narratives. Lyrics can include rhyme schemes (e.g., AABB, ABAB) and often utilize sensory details to engage the listener.

Whatcha Gonna Do For Me – Chaka Kahn
What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me (1981) – Chaka Khan
A totally joyous explosion of incredible songs, stellar musicianship and effortlessly perfect production. There’s not a duff note on this album, and it just reeks of real top-notch musicians giving it their all. And despite all the magic technology (or because of?) at our disposal, albums as heartily enjoyable as this don’t get made today.
